When you delete your site, that does not completely remove the old site from the search engine's index. What will happen over the next few weeks to few months is that the search engine will return to the domain and see that the site has been removed and will delete it from the index. This will happen gradually and we cannot say how long it will take, but it should not be too long. Google does not want to have domains in its index that does not exist anymore.
